Winona-Ryder
Winona Ryder - Winona Lauro Horowitz - was born at Winona Minnesota. Her parents named her Winona in honor of the town she grew up in. The father of her Michel Horowitz and her mother Cynthia Palmer were authors and editors. Ryder's father is from an ethnically Jewish family. Ryder thinks she's Jewish. She has a younger brother Uria as well as two half siblings Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder's parents moved her along with her siblings to Mendocino County California when Ryder turned seven. The family was in a house that didn't have electricity. Ryder became an avid reading book because there was no television. Ryder began to take acting classes in the American Conservatory Theatre in 1983 aged twelve years old. In the year she turned fifteen, she landed her very first role on the screen in Lucas. Ryder was subject to bullying in high school. She hoped that the acting profession would alter that. Unfortunately, it didn't happen. But she continued to chase her dreams. In 1988 she had her biggest break with Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder was able to continue her successful performances in several movies. In 1993 she won an Academy Award for The Age of Innocence.
